Amanda P. Nsubuga is a Ugandan PhD student in Molecular Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. Having lived in Uganda, Eswatini, and the United States, Amanda values the power of cultural connection and community. She founded AWL at UMB to create a space for students, particularly African women, to connect across the university’s seven schools, celebrate African culture, and take a meaningful break from the demands of campus life.
